Geo-referenced Real-time Acquisition of Statistics Platform (GRASP)

The Geo-referenced Real-time Acquisition of Statistics Platform (GRASP) is an application that allows questionnaire design, data collection, transmission and analysis in real-time through the use of mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets. It consists of the following applications:

  • GRASP Mobile: An Android app for managing data collection of large questionnaires on tablets or smartphones.
  • GRASP Designer: Enables questionnaire design through a simple drag & drop interface, and manages data transmission by GSM modem hardware (if SMS is used) and using a contacts book of all enumerators.
  • GRASP Reporting: web-based reporting interface to view data and charts in real-time. It can also be used as a web-based data entry tool for data entry clerks.

At present, GRASP is being used for data collection in 25 countries. It is integrated with Geosdi (Italian National Research Council) which allows real-time and interactive mapping of household data.
